– Service fees cover the first 60 mins of labour, additional time (if required) will attract further charges ($45 + GST per quarter hour)

– Parts carry a minimum of 12-month warranty.

If a second appliance is serviced in the same dwelling we waive the travel cost.

Access for maintenance and servicing for units installed in a roof space.

– Access hatch / manhole must be min 600mm x 600mm.

– A walkway to the appliance must be installed and be min 600mm wide.

– A service platform must be installed around the appliance and be at least 750mm wide.

– All platforms must be permanently fixed to the building and capable of supporting the weight of a person.

– A permanent artificial light must be provided at the appliance with a switch located adjacent to the access opening

– Ductwork must not restrict the required clearances for servicing or maintenance.

Please note – we take the safety of our staff and customers seriously. We understand that not everyone knows the set up in their roof space, so please do let us know if you are unsure when making your booking. If we attend to a property where access is deemed unsafe due to non-compliance in accordance with AS5601.1 we will provide a solution / guidance for safe access and what remedial work is required to meet the code. Payment is required on the day and once remedial work is carried out, we will return to complete the task under our warranty policy.

Examples of access requirements:

Access for maintenance and servicing of imitation gas log fire/ pebble units

 – Control panel must be accessible for servicing

– Plinth and/or glass facia needs to be removable (if applicable)

– If unit is inbuilt into an internal wall and control panel is covered and not accessible (i.e. behind non-removable plasterboard or marble/stone facia) then it is deemed a non-compliant installation. We can’t service or repair what we can’t access.

All gas appliances must be installed to meet AS5601.1.2022 and manufacturer’s instructions. If not, it can affect your insurance if the gas appliance is subject to any claimable event.

If we attend a scheduled appointment and unable to access the mechanical workings of the unit due to non-compliance in accordance with AS5601.1.2022, our service fee is still payable. Once non-compliance has been rectified and unit meets the required code / appropriate access is provided, we will return under our warranty policy (within 3-months of initial attendance).

Examples of access requirements:

Generally – no. The appliance will be fixed on site.

We operate Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Off peak season

Our admin team work flexible hours during the off peak season.

Admin office hours are:

9am – 3pm  (Monday – Thursday)

9am – 1pm (Friday)

We book our appointments in one hour blocks i.e 8am, 10am, 12pm etc (example, the technician will arrive between 10:00am – 11:00am).

Generally, the most you would be waiting for our technician to arrive is 0 to 30 minutes.

We aim to get a technician booked to come out within a day or two of your request, however during peak season there can sometimes be delay due to the demand.

Our technicians will usually arrive as close to the start time as possible, however if they are running a little behind schedule we will ring you and let you know.

We are happy to reschedule if you ring 24hrs prior to your scheduled appointment.

Please note that once you have booked an appointment with us it means that we have reserved time in our schedule exclusively for you. If you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours before it is scheduled to take place, you could be subject to a cancellation fee. This includes appointments where our technician arrives on site and is unable to access the property as arranged.  To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide cancellation notice at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. You can cancel or reschedule an appointment by calling us on 9502 4854.

Had another company tell me that the 40 year old gas ducted heating unit in our investment property needed to be replaced because the parts were no longer available. Quote was $3600 to replace.

I have a 30 yr old ducted heating system. My pilot light wouldn’t stay on when I turned the heater on in the house. I had Jim’s Air-conditioning come out to fix it. After they spent all of 10 minutes assessing my heater unit I was told that the parts on my system are no longer available. I still had to pay the $130 call out fee. I then got the option of spending $5,900 for a brand new system through them. I thought I would try a second opinion. Called Total Gas Care. They came out within a week (no call out fee) and replaced the faulty pilot light part all for a very minimal cost. Cannot thank you guys enough. – JK
