Total Gas Care recommends that all gas appliances need
to be checked by a qualified technician every two years.

Gas Smell

99% of callouts to gas smells result in finding a gas leak of some kind. Any noticable smell needs to be investigated.

Some safe ways for a home owner to detect these leaks is with a cup of soapy water. Place the bubbles around the suspect area. If the leak is present you'll notice quick expansion of the bubbles.

Any leaks need to be repaired immediately or the gas shut off at the meter call us for a service technician to repair the fault.

See domestic service packages.

Combustable Surfaces

Many stoves and cookers are found to be non-compliant, putting your house insurance at risk.

The cooktop needs to be a minimum of 10mm above surrounding benchtops. Adjacent splash backs and walls within 200mm of the burner need to be of non-combustable material.

Flame Texture

All gas flames should be blue with no yellow tips. If yellow flame or carbon deposits are present, your burners need servicing.

Sore Eyes and Throat

Sore eyes and throat can sometimes indicate flue leaks from gas appliances. Carbon monoxide is colourless and odourless. Carbon monoxide is a by product of gas combustion and can cause death.

Any suspect exhaust leaks need to be investigated by one of our technicians immediately. Refer domestic services packages.

Non-Secured Cookers

Customers need to be aware that some cookers with weight placed on door of oven have caused cookers to fall forward, spilling hot contents from the stove top. These cookers need to be securely anchored with tether of floor mounts.
