WHAT IS ATC? Air traffic control (ATC) is a service provided by ground-based controllers who direct aircraft on the ground and in the air. A controller's primary task is to separate certain aircraft — to prevent them from coming too close to each other by use of lateral, vertical and longitudinal separation. Secondary tasks include ensuring safe, orderly and expeditious flow of traffic and providing information to pilots, such as weather, navigation information and NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen). - (WIKIPEDIA) WHAT IS VIRTUAL ATC? Air Traffic Control in the virtual environment aims to perform the tasks as their real world counterparts. The major difference is the ability of the pilots they work with. Simulation Air Traffic Controllers not only perform the standard task of maintaining aircraft separation but act as mentors and trainers to those who are not yet familiar with aircraft, communications and procedures. ATC should maintain a good flow during the simulation by providing instruction that will be clearly comprehended. Adherence to strict rules can adversely effect this |
